Job description
- Responsible for scheduling the deliveries and receiving all stock.
- Ensure that space is created in advance for stock that is expected to arrive for better stock management.
- Responsible for packing all stock in designated areas including all taps, mosaics and décor in the correct spaces as agreed and as per designated space allocations.
- Responsible for capturing all stock and invoice verifying on the system within an hour of receiving.
- Responsible for running all VMI and MRP for stock as and when required.
- Responsible for updating model stock and re-order points of all stock whether managed manually, or via VMI or MRP.
- Responsible for all cleaning, organising and housekeeping in the warehouse, yard, tiling station, skip area and on top of tile racks.
- Responsible for filling tile bays and pulling the stock forward in the bays.
- Responsible for moving stock around in the store for optimal use of space in the store.
- Complete all the warehouse mapping, numbering and bin allocations.
- Ensure that all the tiles that are displayed on the slopes, A-frames and double boards are numbered and correspond with the numbers in the warehouse where the tiles are stored.
- Ensure that all credited stock that is placed in the ‘returns area’ is packed back to stock after it has been verified. A file with daily credit note reports signed by the warehouse manager/his assistant must be kept
- Ensure that the following best practice are followed when counting stock:
a. Count the store twice a month (1-15) and (16-30). The second count may be done by merchandise category leaders/the warehouse manager’s assistant.
b. Count the adhesives at least twice a week (preferable on a Monday and on a Friday), to ensure stock integrity before and after the weekend on the fastest line in the store.
c. Count all the tiles that are less than 50m2 once a week (preferably on a Friday), before the weekend to allow for clearance planning over the weekend.
d. Count all the stock that is returned daily.
e. Count all the display stock once a month.
f. Ensure that the 18 hours stock count test is done monthly.
- Responsible for writing off all broken and damaged stock, end of range/toxic stock, sample and display stock, customer claims and stock losses as it happens.
- Assist the merchandise category leaders to identify dead stock.
- Maintaining the odd lot area at all times and limit the odd lot pallets to less than four at any given point in time.
- Ensure that all stock that is in stock is actually on display; check the different merchandise categories weekly. A signed SOH report after confirming if every item in stock is displayed must be filed.
- Manage all stock received vs. cost of sales in conjunction with manage matrix
- Manage the GR/IR account ensuring that it is clear (barring stock in transit from DC, Cedar and ITD) and negative PO’s
- Keep all the negative purchase orders (for outstanding credits) on the GR/IR for less than two weeks.
- Any stock movement with financial implications must be discussed with the operator.
- Update of all the visuals under his control by the 5th of each month and engage the team to come up with action plans under each control.
- Communicate to the store manager, monthly objectives in writing by the 6th of each month.
- Responsible for training of all employees under his supervision and for conducting monthly one on ones with them by the 7th of each month.
- Responsible for keeping a file for all the stock counts variance reports on stock losses posted and stock written off.

Minimum requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Grade 12 (NQF level 4), or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in retail warehouse management.
- Previous experience in people management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-centric approach.
- Must be a team player with a proactive and positive attitude.
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Familiarity with the company’s product offerings is an advantage.
- Availability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
